Days 1, 2, 3: We're in!

We closed on the house on Friday morning. It's now our house!

Thom and I spent most of the weekend looking at the house. We haven't done any work on it yet, although we made a long to-do list. We might as well enjoy it for a day or two before the work begins.

Among the first priority "to-do" items are:

• Replace all door locks
• Upgrade the electric service and replace old-school fuses with a shiny new panel of circuit breakers
• Paint the insides of the closets (because we'll probably never do that again!)
• Paint the bedrooms

We are working with some interior designers who will help us decide what to do with the living room, dining room, and kitchen areas. They are students in the certificate program at the Boston Architectural College. They are providing their services (for free!) in exchange for the opportunity to build their portfolios and get some experience before graduating and launching their own business.

Once we -- with their help! -- figure out our design plan, we will also be installing a hardwood floor in the living room.

We'll try to take some photos of the rooms when we are at the house in the daytime.
